RQ Blank Trade In Screen Fix

RQ4 when processing a trade in will sometimes appear blank

If this happens there are two different ways to resolve.  The tradein window actually uses “internet explorer” from your PC and integrates it into RQ, so theres an issue with cache/ history

1. Close all programs and web browsers,   Right click on the recycle bin and select “Run CCleaner”  if its installed it will clear cache and when you reopen RQ it should appear.   If you don’t have CCleaner installed then go on to manual steps listed next.

2. Open Internet Explorer
– On your keyboard, press Ctrl-Shift-Delete. A Delete Browsing History window will appear
– Ensure all checkboxes are checked except for the very top one labelled Preserve Favorites website data (you can also leave Passwords unchecked if you choose)
– Click Delete
– Close Internet Explorer
– Once these steps are complete, try the action in RQ again.

If you receive a replacement Motorola/ Symbol LS2208, or if yours currently does not scan and add the “enter key” after scanning a sku  ( which becomes very annoying for an inventory count)

Brother MFC Toner/Drum Reset Video

I recorded a quick video showing how to do the drum/reset procedure for those still having issues.  Anytime you see the toner low or actually change the toner/drum you should do this.  The printer is programmed to say “toner low” based on page count and to annoy everyone.

When you are out of toner your text will be faded.
When you are out of drum your pages will be blank.

Some stores are reporting having issues installing Samsung Smart Switch.

There is a pre-requesite for it that Windows 10 natively doesn’t have.. Please download and install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)

It’s a small 4mb file that takes 10 seconds to install— after that is installed, it will let you install Samsung smart switch.

For the new stores, we are looking into MCE or Cellebrite Options for the future, but for now almost all data transfers can be done via these APPROVED programs:  iTunes , LG Bridge, and Samsung Smart Switch

Please do not install software on any of the computers unless its pre-approved  by IT in writing, or an update to an already installed program.  Regardless if it is “Free” or not, we have to manage licenses for legal compliance.

 

Newer Windows 10 PCs ( Carolina Regions especially)
I received reports that iTunes wouldn’t allow you to transfer phones.   However it’s a little bit bigger than that- It’s windows detecting the phone as an MTP device ( like an android) instead of what Apple uses to make a phone detectable in iTunes.

This worked for an iPhone 7 You should only need to do this ONCE per computer and you need an iPhone 7. ( or any iPhone  that iTunes won’t recognize)  We can’t fix remotely- because the phone has to be plugged in in order to even know there was an issue, so here’s how you fix.

Windows 10- Creators Update “Fix” if Dag/ISC stop working

Windows 10 automatically updates.

Some PCs may get the “Creators Update”  your Internet Explorer will look different and have a new tab icon with the “Edge” logo next to the tabs if you do.

This workaround we have had in place for a while now, but theres a video I made to fix yourself.  The update will reset the certificate prompt setting, so changing it back will allow you to continue.

RQ Not launching? Try this – FixIT Script

There are two services that windows runs in the background that are required to be running for RQ to launch

IQ.Core.UpdateFoundation.WindowsService

To save you the frustration of having to go to the start menu, Type in Services.msc, find the two services and manually start them..

OR

Take this .BAT file and right click it to save target AS in chrome.

Once its on your desktop, just RIGHT CLICK IT and “Run as Administrator”
It will launch a window and automatically shut down and restart the processes for you.

CLOSE RQ4 FIRST or RESTART THE PC FIRST

Now RQ should load without any problems until the next time Windows 10 does an update and causes everything to “reset to default” in six months in which I will leave this post up to once again repeat.

 

 

 

Action Required: Internet Explorer 11

Sprint will prevent access to DAG/ Citrix/ RMS on April 4th
All PCs with a certificate need Internet Explorer updated to version 11.
This needs to be done at the “store level” and can be done by anyone following these steps.
Here’s how to check what version you have.  Open IE and click the GEAR icon and go to “About Internet Explorer”

This one has 10 so its not going to work in two weeks.   If you have IE11 stop- you don’t need to do anything.

These will reduce your operating costs and help your store profit!

All brother printers have an internal page counter, regardless if you have a new toner or drum installed it will still prompt to replace the toner even if its brand new.  You MUST reset the toner/drum counters when you see these messages. Never replace a drum or Toner until your pages begin to fade!
Do not trust the messages on the screen!

Use toners until they are bone dry.

 

Update 4/25/17:
New Brother MFC 2700 Series:

Open the front cover and leave open while completing the following steps.

  • Display should read “Front Cover open”.
  • Hold the ‘OK’ button down for a few seconds.
  • Display should read “Replace Drum”.
  • STOP
  • DO NOT follow prompts on screen.
  • Type in * 0 0 (Star Zero Zero) on the keypad.
  • It will say ACCEPTED.
  • Close the cover. Your toner is now reset.

Clean up hard drive space by deleting iTunes backups

With audits rolling around, we need to make sure we are not hoarding customer data.
Step 1 Delete Using iTunes

1.  Open up iTunes.
2.  Click on iTunes in the menu.
3.  Click on Preferences.

4.  Go to the Devices tab.

5.  Click on the backup you want to remove, then Delete Backup.

6.  Confirm by pressing Delete.

7.  Repeat for any other backups you want to delete.

Tips

  • It’s a good idea to clear out all the older backups, but you should keep the newest backup for each device. For some reason, if you need to restore your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch, you won’t be able to if you deleted all of the backups. Always keep the newest one!
  • If you deleted all of them, don’t worry—the next time you sync your device with iTunes, a new backup will be created.
  • If you have a ton of backups and would rather delete them all in one swoop…

Step 2 Delete Directly from the System

On Mac and PC, Apple stores your iTunes iOS backups in your file system. You can find your backup archive in the following folders (~ represents your user directory):

  • Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup
  • Windows: ~\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup

When you navigate to the Backup folder, you’ll find that they contain a bunch of folders with gibberish names and seemingly random content. There’s no easy way to identify them, but in list view, you can sort by date modified and send all of the old ones to the trash. Then empty to delete and see how much space you just resurrected.

Warnings

  • Do not delete all backup folders. If your iOS device falters, you won’t be able to restore it—you’ll have to start anew. If you upgrade to a better device, update your firmware or get a replacement device, you can easily set it up to make sure you have the same content you had when last synced with iTunes—so make sure to keep a backup handy!
  • Continue backing up your iOS devices. Regular backups makes sure that you’re always safe from malfunctions and glitches destroying your data. Just delete the older ones once you perform a new update.
  • You can prevent iTunes from automatically creating a backup of your device, but you shouldn’t do that unless you want to perform manual backups from time to time.

MSA/ DAG/ ISC Troubleshooting

This note from Justin Owens regarding issues on MSA and iPADs

When you receive these types of notifications from reps ( as I receive these calls probably 3-5 times a week), make sure that MSA tablets are updated with the most recent MSA application in the SCApp store.

About 80% of the time the reps issues are resolved after reinstalling the update from the SCapp store. The other 20% is either user error or a reboot to the modem/router/MSA ipads are required.

Also, please let them know that if it is on ONE MSA tablet to powercycle the tablet first (holding power and home button for appx 7 seconds).

If the issues are on more than one of the tablets, please reboot the router/modem as if these are constantly connected to the router it may cause issues over time if these devices are never disconnected over a wireless connection.

 

One or both devices need refreshed every once in a while to give them rest.

1. Check SCapp store for an update

2. Powercycle the affected MSA tablet

3. Powercycle both MSA & Router/Modem

 

Report any specific error codes and it may narrow the issue down. It may have been a bug, it may have been an app update or routing issue.
